Lyndsie grew up mainly in Texas and began competitively swimming at the age of 7. She swam club for the North Texas Nadadores, high school varsity for Southlake Carroll, and in college for Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. During her high school career, she was a 10-time All-American and state champion. Her swimming career continued through college where she was awarded a full scholarship and was a four-year scholarship letter winner. At TCU, she was second team All-Big 12 Conference and had served as captain her senior year. She is the current school record holder in the 200 backstroke. She graduated from TCU with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Health and Fitness.
