Mark brings over 22 years of coaching experience to the Sharks. Mark is a graduate of Oakland University (Michigan) where he received a degree in communication. He was a member of three national championship relays during his time at Oakland and was a 16-time NCAA Division II All-American. Mark has had a very successful coaching career. He was an Assistant Coach, Head Age Group coach, and Head Senior Assistant coach at the Oakland Live Y’ers Age Group Swim Team (OLY) for eight years. While at OLY, Mark was also the Assistant Coach at Wayne State University. From there, Mark went on to become the Head Coach at Truman State University. While at Truman, the women’s team won two NCAA Division II National Championships. His peers recognized his extraordinary contributions by awarding him the National Coach of the Year -- twice. He coached four individual (two national records) and three relay National Championship performances. Both the men and women had numerous NCAA Division II All-American performances in the pool and in the classroom. After Truman, Mark became the Head Coach at William Jewell College in Liberty, MO. Mark had the task of starting the swim team from scratch. His men’s and women’s teams have been named College Swimming Coaches Association of American Scholars on multiple occasions. In addition, his teams won the Sportsmanship Award in the Great Lakes Valley Conference for five straight seasons for the men and four straight seasons for the women.
