Bobby Guntoro is the Associate Head Coach for Men's Swimming and Diving at NC State. He joined NC State in the fall of 2012, serving three seasons as an assistant coach for the Wolfpack before being named associate head coach in the fall of 2017. Guntoro has been a part of the program’s climb to the top of the national rankings, as he played a role in the men’s program’s four consecutive ACC titles and the team’s top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. He also helped the Wolfpack women to its first conference title since 1980. In 2017, the women ended Virginia’s nine-year streak to win the ACC crown and earn its highest NCAA finish in program history, taking seventh. In 2016, Guntoro helped coach the women to a second-place finish at the ACC Championships. The women’s team went on to complete an eight-spot climb at the NCAA Championship to finish inside the top 10 at No. 9.
Prior to his stint with the Wolfpack, he served as a volunteer assistant at UNCW, where he helped the Seahawks to win their 11th-straight title in 2012 under former head coach Dave Allen. Guntoro graduated from UNCW in 2011 with an accounting degree and was a member of the university’s swimming and diving team. At UNCW, he was the school record holder in the 100 butterfly and in multiple relay events and became a multiple-time CAA Champion in relay events. He also represented Indonesia on an international level from 2003 to 2011.
